Albuquerque is home to some of the nation’s major cultural events. Events like the Gathering of Nations, Festival Flamenco Internacional, and the Albuquerque International Balloon Fiesta, are world-renowned events that bring millions of visitors to Albuquerque every year from across the globe.

GATHERING OF NATIONS
Canceled
The Gathering of Nations is North America’s largest Powwow, with a massive celebration that brings together thousands of Native American dancers and singers representing more than 700 tribes from Canada and the U.S. The event is held annually in Albuquerque on the fourth weekend in April, and is a great event for sharing and learning about Native American cultures.

LOWRIDER MAGAZINE SUPER SHOW

Hosted by Motorsport Showcase Events, LLC, the Lowrider Magazine Super Show is a display for automotive enthusiasts everywhere. This year’s event will take place at the Albuquerque Convention Center.

FESTIVAL FLAMENCO INTERNACIONAL
June 12 – 20, 2020
The Festival Flamenco Internacional has entertained New Mexico audiences for the past 30 years. Held every June, the festival is hosted by the National Institute of Flamenco, and is a celebration of the art form, showcasing a variety of the world’s most talented flamenco performers.

MARIACHI SPECTACULAR
July 8 – 11, 2020
Mariachi Spectacular Conferences’ Arts Education offers an extensive, in-depth presentation of mariachi history through lectures complete with interviews with figures of historical importance. Music classes include instrument technique taught by internationally recognized folk artists. The Spectacular Showcase concert, held at Sandia Amphitheater presents renowned international groups in an ideal setting where students and spectators alike are able to appreciate the music performed by the best mariachi role models in the world.

¡Cine Magnífico!

¡Cine Magnífico! celebrates Spanish and Latin American culture through presentation of some of the best of modern cinema in a weekend-long program, featuring work by first-time filmmakers and established masters alike. The subject matter runs the gamut from comedies, action, romance and documentary films, to dramatic masterpieces. Some of the riskiest and most innovative films of recent years will be included.
¡Cine Magnífico! is organized by Instituto Cervantes, the National Hispanic Cultural Center and UNM Latin American & Iberian Institute so as to be at the forefront of the movement to increase cultural opportunities for the entire New Mexico community and to bring Latinos and non-Latinos together to share common experiences through film, and will be held at the National Hispanic Cultural Center in Albuquerque, NM.

¡GLOBALQUERQUE!

¡Globalquerque! is New Mexico’s Annual Celebration of World Music and Culture. The annual world music and culture celebration is held each September at the National Hispanic Cultural Center in Albuquerque. The two-night festival features multiple stages of music from five countries. It’s a true celebration for music lovers. The courtyard of the Fountain Stage offers an intimate setting to listen to some of the world’s most exciting musicians. Enjoy larger bands in the state-of-the-art, 691-seat Journal Theatre, as well as the Plaza Mayor’s outdoor Festival Stage.

ALBUQUERQUE INTERNATIONAL BALLOON FIESTA
October 3 – 11, 2020
The Albuquerque International Balloon Fiesta is the largest balloon event in the world and attracts over one million visitors every year. For nine days at the beginning of October, the New Mexico skies hold hundreds of balloons as they lift off from Balloon Fiesta Park during the mass ascensions. Guests come from all over the world to celebrate ballooning, and it is the most photographed event in the world.
In addition to the large, world-renowned events, Albuquerque has many events throughout the year that make our city a wonderful place to be in any season.
